SOLIDCORE is a modern furniture and interior solutions firm in Portland, Oregon. I met owner Bill Fritts while working on the Leftbank Directory project in summer of 2009.  This collaboration is part of an edition of side tables for SOLIDCORE's 2010 collection. Bill asked me to design several graphic artworks (see Pleasure Makes Diamonds) that would be laser-etched onto wooden table tops by Raygun Digital Artistry in Hillsboro, Oregon. My first question

regarding the creative process of the artwork was how the details of my graphics would translate to the wooden surfaces. The two designs you see above were part of a test session crafted to answer those questions of detail.  The results were beyond my expectations. This collaborative effort is still in production, several more table tops will be etched, and a base for the tables is currently being designed by SOLIDCORE. Updates will follow soon. Be on the look.
